Picking Exercise #2

Forgot to add words to yesterday’s post, but that’s what happens when you diet on biscuits and fake whelks. Anyhow, we all know that it’s not the words that matter, but the music, man. Actually what happened was I forgot to finish the post because I was thinking about my gig that night. It was with the London Horns and it was brain-meltingly good. James Knight, Barnaby Dickinson, Graeme Flowers, Dave De Rose, Andrea Grant, Jim Watson and me. They’re all so good it’s untrue. I liked it very much. A lot.

So now, here are some words about this here exercise.

The exercise is all about focusing on transitions. And, in a general sense, here’s one of the ways I work on technique.

You should be able to do exercises 2, 3, 4 and 5 as quick as you can do exercise 1. If you can’t, then figure out why that is.

If you can figure it out, then you’ve found a thing to work on.
