Every month we do a new Monthly Group Challenge. We use our forum where you can share your progress, work out technical problems, ask questions, be creative and develop the ideas. There’s a nice buzz when everyone is working on the same material together like this.

Below you’ll find the latest challenge and all the previous ones.

We’ve tackled a wide range of things such as: working on pieces like Emily Remler’s solo version of ‘Afro Blue’ or Jerry Donahue’s country bending workout ‘The Beak/The Claw’; creative challenges like composing your own solo, integrating jazz language into your playing, or coming up with creative ideas; working on & understanding parts of classic solos from Miles Davis, Peter Bernstein, Wes Montgomery, and others; listening & ear training challenges, and so on.

Sometimes we collectively choose what to work on too.

The latest monthly challenge is going to have the most action today, but if there’s anything below from the archive that you’d like to focus on for the month then you’re totally welcome go for it (if you do then let us know in the forum as you might get a splinter study group together). I’m always available to bounce ideas off of and provide feedback for you in the forum threads for any of these challenges.
